SIR - I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the greenkeeping staff at Batchwood Golf Course, St Albans, for the excellent condition of the facility.
I was the professional there for 15 years and occasionally am invited by the present incumbent, Mark Flitton, to play the course and over the last 18 months everything has improved immensely - particularly the condition of the fairways and greens and the attention to detail.
Keep up the good work, boys - the course is a credit to you and to the city of St Albans.
