Dreams really do come true at the St Albans-based dance academy Living the Dream.

Founded by Zoe Jackson, a previous winner of our Young Person of the Year Community Business Award, Living the Dream is an acclaimed performing arts company set up in 2006 to champion young talent and inspire young people to live their dreams through the arts.

Living the Dream has grown to include a School of Performing Arts, Dance Company and a charity The Dream Foundation and they are launching the Living the Dream Talent Agency this year.

Zoe and her team hosted their Easter showcase at The Sandpit Theatre, based at Sandringham School this weekend with over 100 young people between five and 15 years old performing some well known theatre and contemporary dance.

Many of the performers I am sure we will be seeing in future West End productions – the standard was really high and everyone was having such a good time.

If you have a child aged five to 15 you would like to see grow in confidence, express themselves and have lots of fun you should contact Living the Dream who have a policy to make this accessible to everyone.

So how did Zoe win our award? She was nominated by someone in this community who recognised her drive, passion and entrepreneurial spirit.

The Young Person of The Year Award 2014 is sponsored by Oaklands College and encourages nominations from any organisation or individual who knows of a young person aged under 30 on January 1, 2014, who has excelled in their field during 2013/2014.

Areas for consideration include the individual’s position in the organisation/business; their relevant outstanding achievements and impact on the organisation’s success; and the perception of their peers, team mates and managers. The closing date for nominations is June 30.
