SIR - Elizabeth Dumpleton writes expressing admiration for BNP leader Nick Griffin and his performance on Question Time ('Christian country' Herts Advertiser, January 7) and in particular how he "responded lightly and sensibly" to a question on homosexuality.
I'm not sure if Ms Dumpleton was watching the same programme as me but Griffin's response was in fact to label gay people "creepy". The BNP has a long standing policy to end civil partnerships and Griffin has referred to the gay community as "repulsive". Not a particularly "light" or "sensible" position in my view but, as the young lesbian woman from the audience pointed out - the feeling of repulsion is generally mutual.
