SIR, - I see that First Capital Connect (FCC) sought to blame the lack of announcements during the fiasco of last week's city station closure on those who had complained about their defective tannoy system.
Residents and commuters who complained - and whose complaints FCC have told me are justified - were concerned about the volume and triviality of the announcements. No-one has ever asked for there to be no announcements at all. Indeed I and others have pointed out that excessive quantities of pointless announcements meant that passengers may miss important information. I am disappointed but not surprised that this company has sought to misrepresent the views of residents and passengers in order to cover up its lack of care for those it insists on calling "customers".
