SIR - Re the adverse coverage about care at home for the elderly by care companies (Herts Advertiser, May 29/June 5). My wife is aged 58 and after 17.5 weeks in hospital came home as a care package had been set up.

The care on the ground is good by the care workers but where this fails is due to the organisational ability of the company to group care together - for example one calls to us in St Albans, then on to Bushey where the carer who was local went somewhere else.

The report from Supporta Care (May 29) was being economical with the truth where pay and allowances were concerned. Morale with carers was not good but I have every respect for their care. We have had problems and let us hope they are resolved - but a big thank you to the carers on the ground.
