SIR, - I object most strongly to the suggestion that the meals at the senior citizens' restaurant at the Jubilee Centre in St Albans should become reheated frozen food (Herts Advertiser, February 5). Such food is all very well for an occasional or emergency meal, but would not cater for the range of quantities to suit the varying appetites that food cooked and served on the premises does.
And which of the charming and helpful staff would get the push at this time of credit crunch? There's an old saying that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", which seems to apply here. What is wrong with the present situation?
All change is not progress and I think it was a big mistake to close the Day Centre so they shouldn't mess about with the meals at the restaurant.
MRS M. ROGERS,
Campfield Road, St Albans.
