SIR, - I totally agree with the writer of the letter headlined "Hospital scandal" (Herts Advertiser, January 8). A city the size of St Albans and surrounding districts needs a fully-operational hospital, including A&E, maternity and especially facilities for the elderly.
We all have enough problems to cope with - financial difficulties, closure of post offices and many others - so I hope the authorities will listen to us and realise that Watford and even Hemel Hospitals are out of the question.
