SIR - So "health care operators cannot be found to take on an urgent care centre at St Albans City Hospital. One bidder to take on the new service was found but the bid was not felt to be "competitively priced". (Herts Advertiser, November 5)
Sorry, but why do we have an NHS and NHS-funded staff in the first place if not to provide health services to local people? Has not the market approach gone well and truly bottom up? There is a need. We pay taxes and NI. The NHS provides. Why is that simple equation beyond policians?
