SIR - I was glad to read in last week's Herts Advertiser (December 10) that the Council Cabinet has approved measures to reduce pollution at the Peahen junction.
Your story focused on the idea of putting up signs at the junction asking drivers to switch off their engines while they wait in the queue.
This is a simple, cheap and potentially very effective idea, and one that I suggested to Cllr Stuart Pile back in October.
Despite his scepticism, the idea then suddenly appeared in a revised action plan for the junction, which the Cabinet has just approved.
I do hope that this and other measures are put into practice soon, for the sake of everyone who lives or works near, or travels through, the Peahen junction.
