SIR - Who on earth decided to waste (no doubt millions) replacing perfectly good street lights with new ones when money should be spent on repairing the roads damaged by the recent snow and icy weather.
The new ones along the A5 near the Holiday Inn Hotel, Markyate, are as far apart as the present ones so cost more. Who makes such a stupid decision?
