SIR - What possible justification can there be for the parking charges currently in force at St Albans City Hospital? Having to pay for parking at a NHS hospital is wrong in the first place if you are attending an appointment. What makes St Albans hospital even worse is the fact that their minimum parking charge is £2.50 for a period of three hours. What a rip off - especially given that the majority of visitors are short-stay outpatients and will leave well inside the three-hour limit. Who is responsible for this policy? Come out from your hiding place and justify why hospital patients are being treated in this way. PETER MASON, Cherry Hill, St Albans.
