SIR, - I have just driven to St Albans from Hatfield along the A1057 and sat in a queue for some time due to temporary traffic lights opposite the commercial park.
To my surprise the long wait was caused by a new footpath on the field side being constructed for what reason I cannot imagine as very few people walk along it.
When you see all the potholes in the St Albans roads, it seems a waste of manpower and materials to upgrade a footpath in that location. Or is this an omen? We hear of large housing developments in that area joining St Albans to Hatfield. Perhaps this is the start.
