Web Feeds available from The Herts Advertiser

What is a Web feed and how can I use one?

A web feed, or rss feed, is a great way for you to see when new articles are published on your favourite websites, such as The Herts Advertiser, without actually having to visit the website.

By subscribing to a feed you will receive all the latest headlines as soon as they are published all in one place and in many cases, straight on your desktop.

You can subscribe to a web feed using a feed aggregator program, sometimes called a feed reader or a news reader program. Depending on which program you use, the method to set up the feed may vary but this is usually just a case of copying or dragging the feed link (or the orange feed icon) into the aggregator program.

Feed Aggregators

There are many different feed aggregators available and new ones are being released all the time. There are different versions for different operating systems, some you download and install locally on your computer, others are web based. A few examples are listed below...

Version 7 and higher of Internet Explorer and other browsers also allow you to view an RSS feed directly in your browser and new RSS items available will be flagged on your Browser toolbar next to the orange RSS icon

CountryPhile

When was the last time you saw a bumblebee? For me it was last Wednesday but the expected answer would surely be 'late summer last year'. I wonder... have you too noticed some unseasonal events occurring in this particularly mild winter? In the same week, a swallow was photographed in Essex and no less than five species of butterfly were recorded in Hertfordshire!
