SIR, - A glaring irony hit me while reading the Herts Advertiser last week (December 11). At the same time as the LibDems are closing Ridgeview hostel for the homeless, we see the LibDem prospective Parliamentary candidate for St Albans "sleeping out" to highlight the plight of the homeless.

Wouldn't it be better if this chap spent less time "sleeping rough" and more time trying to persuade his council to keep open shelters they have decided to close?

Far be it for me to accuse the LibDem PPC of shameless bandwagon jumping just to get his picture in the paper but.....oops, I just did.

IAN FULK,
