SIR - I trust as Tesco's Sir Terry Leahy went up London Road to the Abbey to collect his gong, he might have noticed the shameful state of the long derelict properties owned by his company.

Afterwards he might have dropped into Inkerman Road to see the three fine Victorian villas owned by Tesco, boarded up and dilapidated.

I do hope his Honorary degree has not been given for his contribution to the urban landscape.
