SIR - Neither the Big V nor any other massive steel sculpture is wanted in the rural and historic setting of Verulamium.

I agree with Roger Miles (Herts Advertiser, November 26) as to the proper procedure in deciding whether a sculpture is either needed or suitable for a given locality.

There are other places in and around the city where an interesting sculpture would be more appropriate, especially if it commemorated a famous local resident.
