SIR - Many people I know with either heart problems, or serious medical problems, struggle very hard not only in day-to-day life, and getting support, but even in going away on holiday.

Nowadays, when we go abroad, the emphasis is to go and get travel insurance. But do others face the minefield that I have explored?

I have been having insurance with the very widely known insurer for people who are over 60 (and wish they weren't!).

I had to make two complaints about them before I went on holiday in August. I was pestered regularly and at one time told they could phone me anytime day or evening to demand information. All this before a heart operation.

In the event I was allowed to go on holiday two days before I was due to go on the plane with my three children.

Sadly, my son's iPod was stolen from a locked hotel bedroom. The hotel did a report and we went to the police. Unfortunately, the hotel put a different date on their form compared to the police.

We submitted the forms to the famous company and after weeks and weeks and weeks of many phone calls and being passsed from person to person they are now saying they will NOT pay up because of this date discrepancy.

Has anyone got any idea what I can do?
