SIR, - I refer to the story (Herts Advertiser, May 29) regarding St Albans scruffy bus shelters. The article mentions that one of the shelters in Chiswell Green belongs to St Stephen Parish Council.

I assume that the shelter referred to is the really shabby tin shelter with fly posters glued to it, located at the end of Ragged Hall Lane, Watford Road, which is indeed an eyesore.

This shelter is not owned by St Stephen Parish Council and its location is, in fact, outside the parish boundary. It is understood that the St Albans District Council owns it.

The parish council has for some time now been asking for this scruffy shelter to be replaced, particularly as it is on an arterial road into St Albans.

ST STEPHEN PARISH COUNCIL.
