SIR, - Re the Runcie Close play area removal (Herts Advertiser, February 19). It is now such an empty space on the green. My house faces this spot and what a joy it was to see the youngsters on the swing going to and from school.

Most of Runcie Close doesn't face this area so it's not much good asking them if they want the play equipment back. It's the mums and children who pass here daily on their journeys to two schools who need consulting.

The nearby play area is for little ones and rarely used and the one on Sandringham Crescent is not so available and still for small children.

MRS J.IRVINE,

Runcie Close, St Albans.
