SIR, - Paul Scott believes (Herts Advertiser, May 29) that the old St Albans Odeon should be turned back into a cinema for a number of reasons.

Has this gentleman attended any of the film presentations in the Alban Arena lately? I have and the number of empty seats has appalled me.

Could your paper run an opinion poll to find out how many people would actually use a cinema if we had one?

Might I also suggest that you run a competition to see who can come up with the most useful and innovative design incorporating the existing facade, before Tesco's incorporate it into their plan as a multi-storey car park.
