SIR - I would like to thank PC Matt Langley and the staff at Barclays Bank for the help and support they gave me when a male and female tried to steal my purse while I was in the lift at the bank. The female was caught and appeared in court but I was disgusted to learn that she faced no charges. I feel let down as she is free to do the same thing again, if not in St Albans then in some other town.

The police are doing their job catching these people but it's the courts that have the final say.
