Keeping stock of the livestock has been twice as much work at a woolly wonderland in London Colney recently, which has seen the birth of many twin and triplet lambs.

Ewes have been busy adding to the flock at Willows Farm, Coursers Road, with 25 giving birth in one week alone, followed by 40 the next.

Keeping a watchful eye on them day and night is Katie Wolfe, the activity farm’s customer experience manager in charge of livestock.

Not only has she been ensuring the newborn lambs are faring well and bonding with their mums, but she is also regularly bottle-feeding those needing a helping hand – particularly the triplets.

When the Herts Advertiser visited one evening, Katie was busy preparing substitute milk for the hand-reared lambs, which are fed regularly every few hours, day and night.

Katie, whose parents Anna and Andrew Wolfe own Willows and have been farming for over 25 years, said she loved her job: “it’s great; there is something special about the peace and tranquillity and seeing new lambs coming into the world”.
