St Albans' motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network in the coming weeks.

Two of them are expected to cause delays of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A405, from 10pm April 20 to 5.30am April 22, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M25 clockwise, junction 21 to junction 21A, Lane closures and roundabout closures for surfacing works, diversion via local authority and National Highways roads.

• A414, from 10pm April 15 to 5am May 11, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 both directions, junction 10 to 6A - lane closure for central reservation on behalf of National Highways.

A further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M1, from 10pm April 22 to 5am April 23, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 southbound, junction 9 to junction 8 - lane closures due to carriageway - reconstruction/renewal works on behalf of Ringway.

• M1, from 10pm April 25 to 5am April 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 northbound,, junction 8 to junction 9 - lane closures due to electrical works on behalf of Ringway.

• M1, from 10pm April 26 to 5am April 27, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 northbound, junction 8 to junction 9 - hard shoulder closure and lane closures due to carriageway - reconstruction/renewal works on behalf of Ringway.

• A405, from 10pm April 27 to 6am April 28, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): M25 clockwise, junction 21 to junction 21A and anti-clockwise, junction 21A to junction 21, carriageway and slip road closure for testing works, diversion via National Highways and Local Authorities roads.

• A414, from 10pm April 29 to 5am May 1, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 southbound, junction 9 - exit slip road closure, lane closure and diversion route for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

• M1, from 10pm May 1 to 5am May 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M1 southbound,, junction 9 to junction 8 - lane closures for carriageway - reconstruction/renewal on behalf of National Highways.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
