THE first of the famous Aldwych farces comes to Harpenden’s High Street Methodist Church on November 21 for three nights.

Tons of Money has been adapted by Olivier and Tony award winner Alan Ayckbourn for the modern day while retaining the essence of Will Evans’ and Valentine’s 1922 original.

Unsuccessful inventor Aubrey Allington inherits a fortune which reverts to his cousin George Maitland should he die.

As his cousin George is thought to have died abroad, Aubrey has the brilliant idea of feigning death so he can resurrect himself as his cousin and avoid payment of his enormous debts.

However in the best tradition of farce complications arise in the form of George’s wife, another Maitland imposter and finally the real George himself.

The play is directed by Lewis Cox and will be staged on November 21, 22 and 23 at 8pm.

Tickets are £8 in advance, £9 on the door, and are available from the Church Office in the morning, Manor Pharmacy, or online at www.hsplayers.org.uk (admin fee 80p per ticket).
