St Albans’ Sonic’s taste of samba magic

THE sky’s the limit for St Albans-based magician Sonic who has taken his act to the dizzying heights of Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro.
Sonic, aka Tony Middleton, was flown to Brazil’s second-largest city to perform close-up card tricks for many football personalities – with the World Cup in attendance.
Players from the legendary 1970s national squad including Brazilian football legend Xavier were amazed when their chosen card was pulled seemingly from thin air.
Sonic has travelled the world performing for Sir Roger Moore, Jools Holland, James Martin and many others. His last globe-trotting gig was in Rome but he was thrilled to perform in Rio, one of the most beautiful locations in the world.
He said: “This whole experience has been amazing. My magic got a massive response from the footballers and coaches who were there and to perform in the shadow of the world-famous Cristo Redentor statue was just fantastic.”
Sonic is well established in his home city of St Albans where he was on hand to help turn on the festive lights last December and had his own show at the Town Hall.
