DAMON Brown’s Ugetsu are playing Herts Jazz Club this Sunday evening, March 4.

An active trumpeter based in Paris and linked through his European playing with an international range of jazz stars including Steve Grossman, with whom he runs a quintet, Damon is also a member of popular funk band Push and the award-winning Killer Shrimp.

He has toured Japan three times with Yutaka Shinna and worked in Europe and South Korea regularly with Martin Zenker. A special connexion has grown between the three of them over recent years and led to the birth of this new project.

All three contribute original compositions to the programme and have a shared love of the great Hard Bop composers and performers.

The evening at Campus West, Welwyn Garden City, gets underway at 7.45pm and tickets are £11 online at www.hawthornetheatre.co.uk/whatsonstage.html, £13 on the door and £5 for students and under 21s.
