Ian Allinson has paid tribute to son Lee who is leaving Clarence Park after two and a half years to be the new Biggleswade Town manager.
The Saints boss’ announced the news on Saturday after City’s defeat at Bath and admitted he would be a loss as his assistant.
He said: “It’s great chance for him at 33 years of age to take that position.
“They rang on Thursday and then we had a really good conversation in terms of what he’s done here and how good he’s been with what we’re trying to do.
“He’s very much behind youth in terms of bringing young lads through and his training sessions have been exceptional.
“He’s going to be a massive loss to me, not only in terms of being my son but in terms of being my assistant.
“He’s passionate, probably too passionate at times; he wants to win every battle and fight every dugout.
“But he’s got to learn and have some responsibilities in terms of that. And he will.”
