St Albans City have been handed a home tie against lower league opposition following the draw for the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

They will play either Corinthian Casuals or Whyteleafe at Clarence Park on September 22.

The pair played out a 0-0 draw at the Casuals’ King George’s Field on Saturday and will replay tomorrow (Tuesday).

The Casuals play their football in the Bostik Premier Division, one step below Saints, while Whyteleafe are from two tiers down.

City have reached the fourth qualifying round at least in each of the last five seasons.

They have also made the first round proper in three of those years.

Elsewhere, Hitchin Town’s reward for beating Godmanchester Rovers is another home tie, this time against Didcot Town.

The Oxfordshire-based club are in the tier below the Canaries and suffered a loss to Welwyn Garden City in August on their last trip to Hertfordshire.

Didcot beat Wingate & Finchley on Saturday.
