Delight and relief for David Moyo after new St Albans City man finally completes move from Hemel Hempstead

A relieved David Moyo is delighted to have officially signed for St Albans City – and has now set his sights of moving his new club up the National League South.
The former Hemel Hempstead Town striker has been with Saints all summer, and has played in all bar one of the club’s pre-season friendlies.
But for the most part he was listed and referred to as trialist, as the two Hertfordshire rivals negotiated the terms of the move.
And that uncertainty gave the 23-year-old some sleepless nights.
“To be honest, a few days before it got done I thought I could be in trouble,” he admitted.
“I thought I could have no club and there’ll be nothing happening for me.
“Luckily it came through and we got it done.
“And I am pleased to be here, 100 per cent. I wanted to be here.
“I spoke to the gaffer and I liked what he’s about. He told me to come down.”
Being in and around the squad since day one of pre-season has given Moyo plenty of chances to evaluate exactly what he has signed up for.
And the striker, who brings an energy to the forward line with his relentless work-rate, likes what he sees.
He said: “I think it’s been slow progress but we are making progress.
“Defensively we’re getting better and better and I think that’s where the gaffer’s main worry was.
“But we’ve got James Sage who’s just come in and David Diedhiou at the back there and everything is looking more solid as we get closer to the opening day of the season.
“I’m enjoying it, I’m enjoying pre-season. We’re working hard and it looks good going forward.
“If we keep working hard, good things will come of it.”
He forms a formidable three-pronged strike force at Clarence Park along with fellow new boy Ralston Gabriel and top scorer Sam Merson, one which manager Ian Allinson thinks will cause trouble to the majority of defences in the division.
But first and foremost he knows he has to get in the side.
He said: “I don’t know what pairing he’s going to go use but I just hope I’m part of it and hopefully we get loads of goals.”
