St Albans Hockey Club’s men backed up a solid away win on the opening weekend of the season with a 3-1 comeback victory at home against Chelmsford this.

Despite having the best of the possession and chances in the first half the Tangerines found themselves one behind shortly before the break.

The half-time score somewhat flattered the visitors who included former GB man Glenn Kirkham.

St Albans started the second half brightly but were fortunate not to be 2-0 down when Chelmsford hit the post.

But they continued to attack and were finally level when Harry Rayner struck from the top of the circle against his former side.

This was closely followed up by a neat deflected goal from Jacob Langley from the second phase of a short corner and victory was secured close to the end when Tariq Marcano finished after good work from Langley and veteran forward Matthew Street.
