Commitment was the order of the day for the athletes, coaches, team managers and officials of St Albans Athletics Club.

They made the journey to Norfolk for the fourth fixture of the SAL and were rewarded by a second place overall.

That gives them more hope of avoiding relegation from Division Two ahead of the final fixture at home in St Albans next month.

Tom Halling was one of the busier athletes, running in the 400m hurdles, steeple chase, 1500m and 4x400m.

Pippa Bailey won both the 400m and 800m as well as making up part of the 4x400m and 4x100m teams.

The 400m and 800m B final was won by Keira Stern with other wins coming courtesy of Sue Yeomans and Louise Kelly (pole vault), Ayo Byron (110m hurdles) and Sam Jones (400m and 800m).

Paul Yeomans, Nick Walker and Louise Kelly covered six to eight field events while Luke Humbles, Alice Townend, Andrew Shaw, Catherine O’Connor and Alice Benson gained valuable points.
