St Albans 4 Harleston Magpies 1

CLAIRE Beattie scored twice as St Albans Ladies recorded a morale boosting 4-1 win over Harleston Magpies. Tasha Dyson opened the scoring for St Albans in the 16th minute when she fired home from a penalty corner. Sarah Embrey extended their lead two minutes later when her shot beat the 'keeper following another penalty corner.

Harleston's indiscipline cost them dearly as St Albans secured the win with goals from two more penalty corners.

Beattie grabbed her first in the 44th minute and then doubled her tally ten minutes later. Frances Sumner pulled a goal back for the Magpies but it was merely a consolation. St Albans travel to Old Loughtonians next Saturday with push back at 1.30pm.

Being ill sucks. No matter what’s got you down – the flu, a broken bone, diabetes, cancer – it’s a horrible place to be. Your body is weaker and less capable. The drugs you take mess with your mind and your moods and sometimes can make you feel even worse than when you started. Mental ill-health is no different. The brain is an organ, and like any organ, it doesn’t always function to the medical standard of “normal”. Mine certainly doesn’t.
