NICK Robinson's late try helped OAs Under 15s beat Bishop's Stortford 10-7 in the first round of the Herts Cup on Sunday.

A Will Tominey penalty gave OAs the lead at half time but a try from the visitors in the second half looked like giving them the win. Thankfully Robinson was on hand to score in the corner and James Loveman kept his cool to add the conversion.

The OAs Under 14s defied the conditions to pull off a remarkable hat trick of league victories at the weekend. The A team's flowing rugby was tested on a sloping muddy pitch at Saracens but the OA lads dug in to run in five tries to give them a 32-0 victory. Inspirational skipper Billy Sach led the way with two tries, and he was joined on the scoresheet by Joel McNeil, Elliott Jones and Josh Pieterse.

Meanwhile, the Under 14s B team chased and tackled tirelessly to notch up a 45-7 win over Hitchin and the Cs put in a great effort to defeat Hackney Bulls 27-22, with a last-minute try.

Any concern that OA Under 12s might have been rusty after the Christmas break was swiftly dispelled at Woolams on Sunday when their first competitive outing of 2009 saw the A Team brush aside a hard-working but out-classed Barnet side in fine style by 70-7. Richard Thrale scored the try of the match, gathering Ben Lewis' crossfield kick to score a try that would have graced any senior game.
