FORMER Harpenden rugby player Matt Cross lined up for England Students as they recorded an emphatic win against Scottish Universities in Edinburgh on Friday.

Matt, aged 21, attended St George's School, Harpenden, and graduated through the Colts system at Harpenden RFC having joined aged five. Now attending Loughborough University, Matt started the game for England at hooker. He has played in the successful Loughborough side, winning Midlands One and gaining promotion to National North Division Three.

England dealt with tough conditions well and led 14-0 after a controlled first half display. From the restart the match opened up and Matt, enjoying an impressive performance, set up a try for wing Andrew Wright. Rampant England went on to win 42-0.
