A Karting champion is preparing to travel to Italy this weekend where he will compete in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.

Former Beaumont School pupil Patrick Pearce takes his place in the line up at the La Conca racetrack in Muro Leccese in Southern Italy where he will come up against competitors from 43 different nations around the World. They will all be doing battle to try and defeat defending champion Pier-Luc Ouellette of Canada.

20-year-old Pearce qualified for the event after he finished second in this year's British Super One series in which he won two of the six events, at Buckmore Park in Kent and Three Sisters in Wigan.
