ST Peter's suffered a nightmare opening to the season as their depleted side, with just nine players on the pitch, went down heavily at Chipperfield Corinthians.

Of the 22 players registered with the club, only 14 declared themselves available for the opening trip and five of those failed to show for the match on the day.

The nine players who did make the journey battled bravely but with no goalkeeper, the club had to put an outfield player in goal and were comprehensively defeated 9-0.

The Saints were hoping for better in their second match played at Kimpton Rovers in Division One on Wednesday. On Saturday, St Peter's go away to Bushey Rangers in the Aubrey Cup.
