THE Blueboys twice led in this exciting fixture but a late goal saw Amersham grab a share of the spoils.

Paul Danslow made a welcome return following his recent honeymoon but he had to settle for a place on the bench.

The Blueboys opened the scoring when Gary Simmonds' cross found Dean Barker inside the box and he took one touch before driving the ball past 'keeper Gary White.

Denilson Vicente nearly equalised for the visitors when he broke clear but his shot went just wide while a free kick from Darren Butler was headed away from the danger area by Mark Paradise.

The Blueboys doubled their lead in the 14th minute when Barker reacted quickest to force the ball home after Josh Humbert's initial shot was blocked. The visitors pulled a goal back when Humbert was caught napping by Butler and he played the ball to Toby Francis who sent a cracking volley past Alistair Hill.

Sam Mitchell saw his drive saved and Barker had an effort blocked as Colney looked to restore their two-goal advantage.

Amersham drew level in the 60th minute. Butler's quick free kick found Kevin Ayodele and he fired in a low cross which was cleared by Benning but only as far as Francis who unleashed a venomous volley into the back of the net.

Amersham wasted three glorious chances before London Colney regained the lead in the 84th minute. A long ball from Paradise found Danny Fitzgerald and he crossed for substitute Danslow who fired home at the second attempt.

The Blueboys were denied all three points when Vicente struck two minutes into injury time, bundling the ball over the line following a goalmouth scramble.

London Colney: Hill, Benning, McCafferty, Dickie, Paradise, Humbert, Rowley, Simmonds (Danslow), Mitchell, Barker (Gallagher), Corran (Fitzgerald). Unused sub: Shaw.
