Cycling: Verulam’s Parry impresses in Wales

Verulam Reallymoving’s Michael Parry put on a strong display in the SD Sealants Junior Tour of Wales.

Covering 215 miles over five stages and including 100 of the most talented junior riders, the event it the grand finale to the British Cycling Junior Road Series.

After a mid-field finish at the opening time trial at Brynmawr, Parry attacked on Rhigos Mountain near Abergavenny to sprint to third place to show his intent.

And at the end of five stages, Parry was 19th in the general classification, just two minutes 29 seconds behind winner Thomas Pidcock of PH-MAS/Paul Milnes.

Parry shared ninth in the King of the Mountains standings and, with clubmates Luke Houghton and Matt Watson, will travel to Belgium this weekend.

Verulam’s Clay Davies was ninth at the Pedal Power Cycles Ipswich Road Race, while Oli Mytton was second in the Fairly United CC 10 mile Time Trial near Oxford with a time of 20.14.
