The M1 southbound is closed between Junction 6 for St Albans and Junction 5 for Watford this morning after a woman was injured in a collision.

Highways tweeted: “@HertsPolice @HighwaysEAST are dealing with a serious collision.”

Police were call at 7.45am this morning about a collision involving a motorbike and a van.

A police spokesman said: “The motorcyclist has been injured and ambulance called.

“The woman is not badly injured apparently.

“The M1 is closed at the moment.”
