AN ELDERLY woman was cut free from her car yesterday (Thursday) evening after she collided with a lamppost in St Albans.

Two fire engines and an ambulance arrived at the A414 longabout just minutes after the accident happened at around 6.30pm.

The victim, who had been driving towards Colney Heath, sustained minor injuries and was taken to QEII hospital in Welwyn Garden City to recover.
