Firefighters extinguished a moped which was ablaze in a Chiswell Green park last night.

St Albans fire crews were called at 8.32pm to Greenwood Park, but were at first unable to find the fire.

They had to leave their engine in the Tippendell Lane car park and take backpack spraying equipment to the area near to the A414.

The fire was put out within 25 minutes of the call.

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
