A yellow weather warning has been issued for St Albans ahead of the arrival of Storm Eleanor.

The storm will bring strong winds over 24 hours, from 6pm on Tuesday to 6pm on Wednesday.

Winds are predicted to get up to 49mph during the storm, meaning buses and trains could be disrupted by the storm and certain bridges could be closed.

There could also be power cuts, and disruption to mobile phone services.

The Met Office has warned there may be flying debris as well.

Their chief forecaster said: “Severe gales will affect western and southern coasts this evening and overnight, with a very squally feature bringing a short spell of intense rainfall and very strong gusts to some inland localities.

“Wednesday daytime sees a very blustery day, with squally gusts accompanying showers in many areas.”
