The Comet store at Monkswood Way Retail Park, Stevenage, had its last day of trading today

AN ELECTRICAL chain has closed its Stevenage store tonight (Saturday) with 14 staff losing their jobs.

The Comet store on Monkswood Retail Park has just finished its last day of trading with administrators Deloitte now running out of time to find a buyer for the 236 outlets across the UK.

The company went into administration last month after being unable to compete with online retailers, with the remaining shops due to close by Christmas Day unless a deal for the chain is agreed.

The closing down sale at the Elder Way store offered at least 50 per cent off all products, except televisions and laptops.
