TRIBUTES have been paid to Welsh actor Philip Madoc who lived in London Colney and has died in hospital aged 77.

Clive Conway, of Clive Conway Celebrity Productions, described Mr Madoc as a very talented actor who spoke “beautifully”.

Apart from numerous radio credits, Mr Madoc also appeared in a multitude of films and television series, including Doctor Who, A Mind to Kill, The Last of the Mohicans, the Life and Times of Lloyd George.

Mr Conway said that Mr Madoc was also an interpreter, who had worked in Russian, French, German and Italian, and had travelled “around Europe on a motorbike”.

The actor appeared in Mr Conway’s company’s production, An audience with Philip Madoc over a year ago, in Wales and around the UK.

Mr Conway added: “He was a very cultured man, a very interesting man. I feel deep regret and am very saddened to hear the news of his passing.

“He gave great joy to his audiences over many decades.”
