St Albans’ Meraki Festival is set to be even bigger and even better for its second year.

There are about five weeks to go before Meraki comes to Redbourn Showground with a host of activities for children and adults - including a silent disco, caving, and roller disco.

Festival go-ers last year were treated to an array of tasty street food at the event, with a host of local traders offering a variety of refreshments.

This year chefs are travelling from all over the country to delight the patrons of St Albans’ very own music festival, joining home-grown businesses in the field.

There will be an iconic double decker Big Red Bus Bar, luxurious Gourmet Cheese Toasties, high quality American food at The Street Diner, and Woodburn Pizza Street Food all the way from Scotland.

Locally renowned dessert parlour The Pudding Stop will also be bringing their yummy menu to the festival.

A spokesperson said: “We had such a great time at Meraki last year, we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to be a part of Meraki again this year.

“We love being a part of our communities local events, and it’s such an amazing festival for all the family!

“We can’t wait to bring our puddings and speciality coffee to the people of Hertfordshire again this year, and serve up some crowd pleasing favourites whilst listening to the tunes of Meraki.”

Marlborough Road’s restaurant St Villa will be offering barbecue delights for the weekend.

A spokesperson from the restaurant said: “Having enjoyed the festival so much last year we are absolutely delighted to be returning to Meraki this year. It’s going to be even bigger and better.

“We will be providing a delicious barbecue for all festival go-ers, selling things like Bratwurst and Cumberland sausages (vegetarian and non vegetarian), our chef’s sensational pulled pork, steak sandwiches and for those needing something a little cooler, a beautiful gazpacho soup. “

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
