Police have confirmed that the body of a man was discovered in a wooded area on the outskirts of St Albans yesterday.

Members of the public reported seeing a number of police in the Birklands area yesterday.

A police spokesman said: “A man’s body was sadly found in a wooded area near The Poplars in St Albans on Monday afternoon.

“The family of missing man Craig Hodgson have been informed and are currently being supported by police officers.

“Formal identification has not taken place at this stage.”

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
