A 40 year old man has died after his quad bike collided with a car in St Albans on Sunday (1).

An anonymous source has told the Herts Advertiser that the driver was allegedly a father of two from North Mymms.

He was travelling on his blue Yamaha Raptor quad bike on Harpenden Road when it collided with a grey Renault Scenic at about 6pm near the junction with Francis Avenue.

A spokesperson for the fire service said that the man was allegedly thrown from his quad bike into ‘shrubs, bushes and trees’ and firefighters used cutting equipment to help move him and assist with first aid.

The man allegedly sustained serious head injuries and later died at Luton and Dunstable hospital following a cardiac arrest. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information. Investigating officer, PC Jackie Lister, from the Road Policing Unit, said: “Sadly as a result of this collision a man has lost his life and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

“We are currently trying to piece together the circumstance of this incident and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the collision take place, or who saw the vehicles in the area before the incident, are asked to contact police as soon as possible.”

The fire and ambulance also attended as well as the air ambulance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101.
