A power cut is affecting a swathe of the district this evening.

UK Power Networks say an outage was reported at 5am this morning and is affecting 29 customers across St Albans, Colney Heath, London Colney, Jersey Farm, Marshalswick, Oaklands, Sandridge, Smallford, Tyttenhanger, and Wheathampstead.

The problem is due to a fault on an underground electricity cable, which may mean engineers have to dig up the road to carry out repairs, but it is not known which street.

Power is expected to return between 7pm and 8pm.
