HOSPITAL staff put out a fire which broke out at the weekend.

Some clothing in St Albans City Hospital porter's block caught alight at around 4.30pm on Sunday and the flames were out by the time firefighters arrived.

The room was heavily smoke-logged so the fire service ventilated the area on their arrival but nobody was injured in the incident.

CCTV footage of the scene is being examined to determine the cause of fire.

Recently we, as a family (minus two of the kids), visited The Lodge RSPB reserve in Sandy, Bedfordshire. I had never been before, which is perhaps amiss of me as a birdwatcher as it is the headquarters of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds or RSPB and only 45 minutes drive from home.
