A charity which helps young people at risk of homelessness in St Albans has received a £1,000 donation from Amazon.

Herts Young Homeless, which aims to tackle homelessness among 18 to 24-year-olds in Hertfordshire, was given the donation by the Amazon Fulfilment Centre in Hemel Hempstead.

The money will go towards the charity’s Nightstop Herts service, which provides emergency accommodation for a young person in the home of an approved volunteer. Nightstop prevents people from sleeping rough, ‘sofa surfing’ or staying in unsuitable accommodation where they could be at risk.

HYH’s community and events fundraiser Alison Wildey said: “We’re very grateful to be nominated for this donation. It’s a fantastic amount of money which can provide up to 40 bed nights in Nightstop Herts so will make a difference to vulnerable young people in the local community who are facing homelessness.”
